NAKA, in conjunction with the Kim Koo Research Group in Washington, DC, is engaged in modern Korean history research project, with initial focus on the period of U.S. military government in south Korea from 1945 to 1948.

The research group is seeking surviving U.S. citizens who had either served in the U.S. military government or were in Korea at the time. The group also is engaged in ongoing research at the National Archives and related institutions, and sponsors forums with experts on this period.
