Message on the Virginia Tech Tragedy

» View News & Updates List

Members of the National Association of Korean Americans (NAKA) extend deepest condolences to the surviving family members and the Virginia Tech community affected by the terrible tragedy on April 16, 2007. We join all Americans in grieving the senseless loss of lives.

Like other American people, the Korean American community is deeply shocked and troubled by this event. We share the sentiment that all of us need to address and act on the root causes of these acts of violence that plague the U.S. society.

We will support and cooperate with initiatives that aim to reduce violence in America, expand treatment of mental illness, and increase support system to assist those in need. We will also work with educators, public officials, and religious and community leaders to address the issues of school violence, violence in the entertainment industry, and gun control laws.
