National Mobilization to End the Korean War on the 70th Anniversary of the Korean Armistice (Washington, DC)

July 26-28, 2023

Co-Conveners: American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), United Methodist Church Global Ministries/Church & Society, Korean American Peace Fund (KAPF), Korea Peace Now Grassroots Network, Mennonite Central Committee, National Association of Korean Americans (NAKA), Rotary International, Veterans for Peace, Women Cross DMZ

Over 500 participants from around the U.S. and South Korea

Highlights:

July 26: Advocacy visits in the Congress (Senate and House)

Welcome Reception at Friends House -- multi-generational, multi-national, multi-racial gathering of citizens, activists, scholars, religious leaders, former military officials.

July 27 at 11:30 AM: A congressional press briefing with US members of Congress (Reps Barbara Boxer, Judy Chu, Delia Ramirez) and Korea peace champions at the House Triangle.

1-3 PM: "Unbind Your Heart: Korean Han / Grief Transmutation Circle" at Foundry United Methodist Church

5-6PM: A rally at the White House

6-7PM: March to the Lincoln Memorial

7-8PM: Inter-Faith Vigil at the Lincoln Memorial

July 28 from 9AM-3PM: conference at George Washington University School of Advanced International Studies, featuring renowned Korea scholars and peace strategists:

Siegfried Hecker, Stanford University nuclear scientist;
Kee Park (Harvard Medical School faculty, Director of the North Korea Program at the Korean American Medical Association);
Joy Gebhart, member of a divided family, humanitarian and peace activist;
Lt. Gen. Dan Leaf, retired U.S. Air Force, lieutenant general, former deputy commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command;
Bruce Cumings, University of Chicago, Korea scholar;
Jennifer Deibert, DPRK program director at the American Friends Service Committee.
